In 2010, UMHAN prepared a guidance document for the sector, detailing the practical foundations for developing institutional support for students with mental health difficulties. The guidance - targeted at existing services and those wishing to develop such a service - can be downloaded as a PDF document. A 2017 update to this document, detailing supervision recommendations, may be downloaded.
People with mental health conditions are able to apply for Access to Work funding for tailored support once they are over 16. Although similar to the process for applying for Disabled Students' Allowances it can be difficult to find information about what support might be recommended.
