As we reflect on the findings from our 2025 Membership Benefits Report, one thing is abundantly clear:

UMHAN is more than just a professional association - it’s a community

In an increasingly demanding sector, our members continue to find that the peer support, resources, and specialist knowledge available through UMHAN provide exceptional value for money.

The heart of our value: Lunch & Learn sessions

Our Lunch & Learn series has officially become the cornerstone of the UMHAN experience. When asked to rate our benefits, an overwhelming 86% of members identified Lunch & Learn sessions as ‘extremely’ or ‘very’ important.

Why are they so popular?

Accessibility: Members describe these events as "short, accessible, and easily fit into the working day".

Relevance: From neurodivergence and ADHD to the ethical use of AI in wellbeing, our topics are driven directly by member feedback and the emerging trends in student mental health.

On-demand learning: We know our members’ diaries are packed - 39% of members cited diary management as the main barrier to live attendance. That is why our Event Recordings library is so vital; 90% of members rate these recordings as a top-tier benefit, allowing them to catch up whenever it suits them.

A community that pays for itself

Investing in professional development is essential, and UMHAN remains an economical choice for practitioners across the UK.

Employer support: 64% of our members have their fees paid for by their employer.

Engagement satisfaction: 80% of members feel UMHAN provides just the right amount of engagement opportunities.

Beyond the sessions, membership grants access to a private Community Forum, a monthly newsletter packed with sector news, and professional recognition through our Public Register for Accredited Practitioners. For many, the greatest value is simply "not feeling like we are doing our own thing" and having a "community of practitioners with shared experiences" to lean on.

Whether your fee is covered by your institution or you invest in yourself, UMHAN remains dedicated to advocating for your role, your workload, and your professional standards.
