Fees

1. Individual Membership

If you are joining UMHAN as an individual, the annual membership fees are:

● Accredited Practitioner Membership: £96 per year*
● Manager Membership: £75 per year
● Associate Membership: £75 per year

All applicants must complete a joining form.

Self-employed members

UMHAN is a registered professional organisation and is on HMRC’s List 3 of approved professional bodies. This is crucial information for the purposes of tax relief. 

If you are self employed and pay for your own membership, you may be able to claim the membership fee as a business expense, subject to your individual circumstances and HMRC rules.

Please check with your employer, agency or HMRC to confirm what you are eligible to claim.

2. Institutional Membership

Institutional Membership costs £75 per year.

This fee is paid by the organisation and is in addition to the individual membership fees for staff who join UMHAN under the institutional membership.

Institutional Membership gives your organisation:

● Unlimited free job postings on the UMHAN Job Board (normally £50 per advert for members)
● 10% discount on Accredited Practitioner (AP) memberships after the second AP member joins
● Unlimited free staff changes, with updates normally processed within 2 working days
● Early or free access to UMHAN events
● Greater discounts on paid UMHAN training

Each staff member joining under an Institutional Membership must still complete an individual joining form.

How does the 10% discount work?

The first two Accredited Practitioner (AP) memberships are charged at the standard rate of £96 each. Once an institution has three or more AP members, the additional AP memberships are charged at the discounted rate of £86 each. 

Associate and Manager memberships are excluded from discounts due to their lower cost.

The discount is automatically applied as your institutional membership grows.

For example:

Plus the £75 annual Institutional Membership fee.

So, for example, an organisation with five AP members would pay:

£75 Institutional Membership + £450 individual AP memberships = £525 per year.

This structure means that organisations benefit from a reduced rate as more staff join, with over 40% of institutions recouping the Institutional fee on this benefit alone.
