Applications Working Group

Purpose: To help the Development and Operations Coordinator manage membership applications and processes.
Commitment: UMHAN requires a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week
Working with: Development and Operations Coordinator and the other group members

Role Description

  • Working alongside Development and Operations Coordinator and the committee to develop membership application processes
  • Processing and assessing membership applications when needed

Duties

  • Check working group email at least once a week
  • Have in person or virtual meetings with people from the same group to discuss possible further development of application processes
  • To attend a short virtual monthly meeting organised by the Development and Operations Coordinator
  • To actively recruit members to the working group, including identifying suitable successors.
  • Provide a brief summary of the group’s activities for the Annual General Meeting
  • Develop and implement CPD and Supervision guidelines
  • Work on changes to memberships application or renewal processes


PR and Press Working Group

Purpose: To help the Development and Operations Coordinator manage public relations opportunities.
Commitment: UMHAN requires a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week
Working with: Development and Operations Coordinator and the other group members

Role Description

Working alongside Development and Operations Coordinator and the committee to respond to press or conference opportunities. These will be forwarded to the working group by email; quick responses are ideal to secure opportunities (hence 1 hour commitment per week).

Duties

  • Divide work between members of the group equally
  • Check working group email at least once a week
  • Have in person or virtual meetings with people from the same group to discuss possible public relations opportunities
  • Compiling and reviewing annually the Press Pack
  • Encouraging members to contribute to blog posts and journal articles
  • Reviewing outward facing media and replying/commenting on articles and posts in which UMHAN is mentioned
  • To attend a short virtual monthly meeting organised by the Development and Operations Coordinator
  • To actively recruit members to the working group
  • Provide a brief summary of the group’s activities for the Annual General Meeting
  • Notify the Chair of any significant PR events
  • Inform the Coordinator when unavailable to work


Mental Health Promotion Working Group

Purpose: To help the Development and Operations Coordinator create and run new awareness campaigns
Commitment: UMHAN requires a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week
Working with: Development and Operations Coordinator and the other group members

Role Description

Working alongside Development and Operations Coordinator and the committee on issues related to student and staff wellbeing. University Mental Health Day 2018 will take place on 1 March; the working group must liaise with the Development Worker around involvement.

Duties:

  • Divide work between members of the group equally
  • Check working group email at least once a week
  • Suggest and work on new campaigns, or revisit old ones
  • Have in person or virtual meetings with people from the same group to discuss possible expansion on the current member benefits
  • To actively recruit members to the working group
  • To attend a short virtual monthly meeting organised by the Development and Operations Coordinator
  • Provide a brief summary of the group’s activities for the Annual General Meeting


DSA Working Group

Purpose: To help the Development and Operations Coordinator manage DSA queries
Commitment: UMHAN requires a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week
Working with: Development and Operations Coordinator and the other group members

Role Description

Working alongside Development and Operations Coordinator and the committee to develop and review best practice guidelines to facilitate student access to the DSA.

Duties

  • Divide work between members of the group equally
  • Have in person or virtual meetings with working group colleagues to discuss ongoing work and possible future development of the group
  • Update DSA Needs Assessor Training resources
  • To actively recruit members to the working group
  • Make sure MHAs and Mentors working in the same university are put in contact to help each other throughout the DSA processes
  • To ensure cross-over working with other UMHAN working groups when necessary.
  • To ensure representation of the working group with external parties.
  • To attend a short virtual monthly meeting organised by the Development and Operations Coordinator
  • Provide a brief summary of the group’s activities for the Annual General Meeting
  • Identifying, organising, and sharing CPD and training opportunities with the membership
