University Mental Health and Wellbeing Day - 20th February 2013
Join us to mark University Mental Health and Wellbeing Day on the third Wednesday of February each year, and hold your own campus- or institution-based event!
University Mental Health and Wellbeing Day is an annual event aiming to focus efforts aimed at promoting the mental health of people who live and work in Higher Education.
The Day has been initiated by UMHAN, but all those who value student mental health are welcome to contribute to its success.

A list of participating Universities can be found on the "Getting involved" webpage. If your University isn't listed and should be, let us know.
The Day is also supported my Mental Wealth UK, the network of over 28 Mental Wealth Groups run by students, for students, to promote positive student mental health and wellbeing in universities across the UK. Student Voices
This year's theme is "student voices", and here's some quick ideas to get listening:
1) Share Leeds Student Union's video using social media, University-media, etc.
2) Work collaboratively with the local Mental Wealth group.
3) Facilitators and volunteers could offer advice based on incorporating the 5-ways-to-wellbeing into everyday life.
4) Dress in green – this is the official colour, and a good conversation starter!
5) Let's hear those student voices! Invite a local choir or band to perform on the Day.

Resources to help prepare the Day
To help inspire your creativity, here's a selection of events and ideas from previous years.
You may also like to use the Guide to UMHAWD developed by UMHAN and Mental Wealth UK. This is especially relevant if you are a student or student group wanting to get involved.
We've also created an easy-to-use email tagline to help publicise the Day.

Small beginnings...
If you wish to participate in UMHAWD but no event is planned at your local institution, contact the Student Union or Mental Health Adviser at the institution - they
will know more about how to start things off. Please also refer to the Guide above.
When is the best time to start planning or getting involved?
The earlier, the better, but it’s never too late.
Does it matter how large or small my community, campaign, event, idea, is?
No. Every effort makes an impact, while grander ideas will take time.
Time and resources are limited. Should I bother?
Yes! If you do one thing, this is something that would not have happened without you. Participants choose from a huge range of ways to celebrate. The starting point - and end point - is only limited by imagination! If the date conflicts with something else, you can still participate at roughly the same time of year.
